Kinderland Camp
This program is open to 4 and 5 year old children. Activities such as music, arts & crafts, and special guests will be held at Alverthorpe Park and the Ardsley Community Education Center. The first session will begin at both sites on Monday, June 23th and run for three weeks until Friday, July 11th. The second session will begin on Monday, July 14th and end on Friday, August 1st. Abington Township residents may begin registration for both sites and sessions in person at the Bureau of Parks and Recreation’s main office in Alverthorpe Manor on Tuesday, May 6th at 9:00 AM. Non-residents may begin registration on May 13th.

Summer Playground Program
This program is open to Abington Township children ages 6-12. The program will be offered at two locations (Penbryn and Crestmont Parks). Activities will include sports, arts & crafts, games, special events, and field trips. There is no program at each site on days when a field trip is scheduled. Each site will operate from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Supervision will NOT be available for early drop-offs or late pick-ups. Abington Township Residents may begin registration in person at the Bureau of Parks & Recreation’s main office in Alverthorpe Manor starting on Tuesday, April 22nd, at 5:00 p.m. Non-Residents may begin registration on May 7th. Only one family registration per person.

Babysitting Workshop FULL
This certification course provides teens with the confidence and skills to care for youngsters. Prospective employers will be happy to hire babysitters who have acquired this official recognition. Upon completion of the course, you will receive an ARC Certification Card, an informational CD-ROM, as well as child care concepts. You must attend the entire course, pass the evaluations, and show the maturity to properly care for children. Please bring a lunch, snack, pen & notebook.

Art and Nature Camp
Visit Abington Art Center and create art inspired by guided tours of the grounds by our professional artist. Our Camps are designed for kids who love to make art! This is a great opportunity to spend the time you need fine-tuning your skills and learning new ideas, techniques and processes. Playful Chef

Fencing Classes in Ardsley
Fencing is a verebral and physical sport, often referred to as “physical chess”. The sport equally develops both physical and mental characteristics. Fencing includes
speed, coordination, strength, precision, endurance, and inventiveness. All are useful for the natural development of the children. It requires concentration, focus as well as great discipline. In each class, students will warm-up through different games. They will be taught fencing techniques and will engage in fencing bouts with fellow students. Students may use the coach’s equiipment. 3 age

Little Tumblers * 6:00pm CLASS FULL
This non-competitive program is designed for preschool to kindergarten-aged children to learn the introductory skills of gymnastics. These skills include forward and backward rolls, cartwheels and headstands. The children will quickly gain confidence while learning to walk and other small skills across balance beams. With plenty of praise for their efforts during class time, there is no doubt your child will want to show everyone their new talent! On the eighth week, each child will receive a ribbon for their achievements. Children are strongly encouraged to dress comfortably; no jeans and hair pulled back. Water bottles are also encouraged. Socks are optional. Hurry, spaces limited!

I9Sports Cheerleading Camp
This camp teaches young athletes all the essential skills to guide the crowd to root on the home team. I9Sports Cheer Camp will ensure that each camper
will learn cheers, chants, dances and stunts(non dangerous). The cheerleaders will also learn important life skills such as teambuilding and leadership, and how much fun it is to be a cheerleader!!! The week concludes with a performance demonstrating what they learned for their parents/guardians. Each participant will receive an official i9 Cheerleading Participant Shirt & Pom-Poms to keep. Each girl will receive an i9 Participation Trophy following the week end performances and celebration! Each child should waear appropriate footwear. That includes sneakers or running shoes

Frisbee Flying Fun Camp
Frisbee Flying Fun Camp introduces boys and girls to an array of skills and games related to Frisbee. Campers will learn a variety of ways to throw the Frisbee and also improve their catching skills. The sports of ultimate Frisbee, Frisbee golf, flutterguts, and other Frisbee games will provide the opportunity for campers to enjoy themselves as they learn these new games and activities. Instruction is provided by the Philadelphia Ultimate Camp, the area’s premier camp for Frisbee instruction (www.UltimateCamp.com). The student to teacher ratio is 5:1. Miss D’s
Children In Motion Drama Camp FULL
“Children in Motion” is an arts program for the young (ages 7-12). If your dream is to act, sing, dance, and improvise, this program is for you! The, director, Denise Germont-Risser, aka Miss “D”, is a nationally acclaimed children’s recording artist, vocal performer of many genres and musicals, music teacher, and drama director of endless amounts of plays. The final “show” will be performed on the gymnasium
stage on the last day of the program. Families, friends, and the general public are welcome to attend. This educational yet fun summer program will keep your child up on reading, social, memory, and public speaking skills.

This summers play: PEGGY THE PINT SIZED PIRATE. Peggy’s dreams are squelched by a bunch of unruly pirates who laugh at her aspirations. She works hard to prove them wrong and learns a valuable lesson in the mean time.

Aikido At Ardsley
Aikido teaches self-defense using
techniques of evasion, immobilization, and redirection to avoid an attack and then control the attacker. Students will learn to use the opponent’s force by neutralizing the aggressor’s actions. Self-defense, coordination, physical fitness, nd confidence are all reasons to study Aikido. Children’s classes are open to all skill levels.

Beginers Crochet Class

Crocheting is a wonderful skill to teach children. They get such joy and pride out of creating something of their own. Crochet projects also make great holiday gifts that children can create all by themselves! This class will introduce basic crochet techniques including slip knot, chain stitch, single crochet, and double crochet. Children will learn the beginning skills needed to read crochet patterns and create simple crochet projects, such as potholders, blankets, scarves and headbands. James Fox Basketball

PonyShare

Half-Day Horse Camp Does your child want more time in the saddle? Then PonyShare’s Half-Day Horse Camp is it! Children will spend between 60-90 minutes per day in the saddle and participate in various activities including games, sports, and hands-on horse related activities on a rotational basis. We will be able to concentrate on establishing basic riding skills on larger ponies.

Petite Equestrian ProgramThe PEP participants will learn safety on and around the ponies, grooming techniques, basic riding skills, and other primary horsemanship skills. While this is not a Horseback Riding lesson, per se, the program includes an exciting riding component where each child will ride during each lesson and learn how to properly mount, dismount, hold the reins and control the pony at the walk and a few steps of trot. Lessons aim to help develop confidence and motor-coordination skills while providing a supportive, fun, non-threatening environment. This is a participatory program for parents who so desire, and one may be asked occasionally to lend a hand. This program is the perfect preparation for private or semi-private lessons or any eager young aspiring Equestrian! FULL


Pony Grooming & Riding Program This unique program provides an exciting and inexpensive hands on introduction to the wonderful world of equines in a fun-filled and non-threatening atmosphere. After reviewing safety rules, material previously covered and learning new subject matter each small group works closely under the tutelage of a qualified and motivated counselor to learn horsemanship subject matters such as: Safety on and around horses, Basic Anatomy, Grooming, Equine Senses & Body Language, Riding Styles, and more! Groups are paired by size with a pony or cob and will get to ride or drive their charge during each session. This program enhances team work and self-esteem while helping develop a genuine appreciation and respect for the animals. Course materials are provided.

Shining Knights Chess Club
Spend a week playing and learning about chess from the Silver Knights chess coaches! Our coaches are highlyrated professional chess instructors. We have taught tens of thousands of children, including the 2008 national
champions for first and second grade and the 2009 national kindergarten champion. Campers are broken up into groups by skill level, so we accept anyone from total beginners up through experienced and highly-rated tournament players. Each camper receives a T-shirt and a tournament-style chess set. Activities include learning openings, tactics, endgames, studying master games,
playing games against fellow students, and analyzing the students’ games. Campers will take periodic breaks for snacks and fresh air, and full-day campers have lunch and recess from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.

Shining Knights Chess Club
Learn to play chess! Students of this program have
competed in local, state, and national tournaments,
placing as high as 10th in the nation. Class time is evenly

similar skill levels for practice games.

Skateboarding Camp
Check out this awesome skate camp. This camp is especially for beginners who want to get comfortable in the skate park. You will learn tricks like ollie, kickflips,
360 flips, and how to ride the ramps. We also cover safety and practice new tricks every day! By the end of the clinic, you will be able to show all of your friends. Bring your skateboard, helmet, protective gear, water, and get ready for a ride. Helmet, elbow pads and knee pads are required.

take home. Students will also become science sleuths as they investigate how chemistry provides evidence at the scene of a crime. During this hands-on detective work, children will gather & test “crime scene” clues, make & analyze their own fingerprints, make Rainbow Stompers & much more! This camp is Radical Dude!

The Wilderness Games
The Wilderness Games are about to begin and you have been chosen as the tribute to represent your District. In preparation, we’ll teach you to move stealthily through the forest, build natural shelters, camouflage yourself, navigate the outdoors, track one another, and pack essential gear among many other skills. If you enjoyed the Hunger Games Series then you will definitely enjoy this GeoVentures camp! Each day will include hands-on activities, discussion, and a
team activity. Bring a water bottle and a healthy snack; wear comfortable shoes and dress for activity and the weather.

Geocaching Adventure Spy Training
Are you the world’s next Super Spy? After assuming your new secret identity and being debriefed, your spy training will begin. It will include becoming an expert in the art of disguise, code-breaking, surveillance, stealth and leaving no trace. As
a team, you and the other cadets will sove high-level crimes, navigate challenging obstical courses and try to discover the double-agent. After training, you’ll be ready to take on the world’s worst bad guys. Each day will include hands-on
activities, discussion and a team activity. Bring a water bottle and a healthy snack. Wear comfortable shows and dress for activity and the weather.

Safari Jr Camp
It’s a jungle out there and Junior Safari Exploreres are heading out on an adventure to explore the outdoors and the thrilling plants and animals that dwell there. Armed with your binoculars and magnifying glasses, campers will work to answer some of the worlds biggest (and smallest) questions. Campers will learn what to do when encountering wild animals, identify prints and tracks,
go on exploratory hikes, nature scavenger hunts, and investigate how animals camouflage themselves pluse much more. Are you ready to go on a Safari Adventure? Each day will include hands-on activities,discussion and a team activity. Bring a water bottle and a healthy snack. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for activity and the weather.

US Sports

First Play Lacrosse Clinic
Have great fun learning this exhilarating game. The USSI Lacrosse clinic is open to players of all ability and no previous Lacrosse experience is necessary, Players can experience stick handling, passing, scooping, dodging, shooting and many more fundamental techniques and skills. Players will be grouped by age, playing ability
and experience level.

First Play Golf Clinic
Using a revolutionary new system, the USSI golf camp is the ideal way to introduce youngsters to the game of Golf. Children will learn all the basic golf techniques such as the swing, grip and ball striking using unique and fun training
methods as well as doing team challenges and playing in our US Open ompetition. Children will experience greater success using the larger balls and club heads which allows them to strike the ball more consistently and increase their confidence which will encourage them to continue to enjoy of the game of Golf!

US Sports Institute’s First Play Basketball is ideal for

Sports Squirts
The US Sports Institute Sports Squirts Program introduces children ages 3 to 5 to a variety of sports such as Soccer, T-Ball, Basketball, Lacrosse and Hockey, all taking place in a safe structured environment ensuring learning is taking place. Activities are designed to evoke a child’s imagination in which they can Find Nemo, send Shrek into a spin or capture jellyfish with Sponge Bob Square Pants. All activities promote hand-eye coordination, movement and balance, and most

Total Play Sports Camp
Experience over 15 different sports from around the world
with the US Sports Institute. All activities will take place in an
atmosphere which promotes good sportsmanship, teamwork,
and most of all fun! Campers will receive technical instruction
in each sport then experience the sport in a realistic game
situation as well as participating in the exciting USSI World
Cup Competition. This is the only sports camp truly dedicated
to children of all sporting abilities.

Potteryworks

Pottery Class Workshop CANCELLED
It’s Spring! Schedule some fun time for your children to play in the mud! Young artists will have fun exploring their imagination, develop creativity and gain confidence all by working with clay. Each day, children will complete one project from beginning to end. Some of the projects we will be doing are favorite food, sea monsters, custom plates,and a project towards the end of the session that will allow your child to create a piece based on their own personal interests.These projects will be taken back to the studio at the end of the week and fired in the kiln. Participants will be able to pick them upapproximately one week after camp is over. We welcome all skill levels and abilities. All supplies are included and pieces are fired at the PotteryWorks Mobile Studio. Glazes and clay are food safe and

Summer Pottery Class FULL
This summer, come join us for a week working with pottery! Each day, campers will learn new hand-building and glazing techniques. Campers will learn and build new projects such as cartoon figures, flip flops, sea monsters,
favorite foods, custom plates, and a project towards the end of the session of their own choosing. Working with clay is a very rewarding experience. Your kids will have the opportunity to let their imagination soar as they learn to create wonderful works of art. These projects will be taken back to the studio at the end of the week and fired in the kiln. Participants will be able to pick them up approximately one week after camp is over. Each day, however, after the main project is completed and snack time is over the children will have the opportunity to play with Palmer Modeling clay. They will make miniature pendants that they will be able to take home with them each day. We welcome all skill levels and abilities. Tots to Teens Tennis Program
For the fourth year in a row, Tots To Teens Tennis instructors will be teaching Beginner and Intermediate Tennis for kids! It is a great foundation for kids to learn: -Hand-eye coordination, strokes, movement drills, and
games will be learned while having fun! -Developmental Training: Basic skills (forehand, backhand, volley, serve and scoring) are reinforced while players are
learning to compete. Students will learn to hit the ball with consistency, allowing them to really start enjoying the game. Learn the fundamentals of the sport, including forehand, backhand, serve & volley, as well as basic offensive &
defensive strategy. Instruction will be provided for Beginner & Intermediate players, as well as middle & high school team players.
